Tips for beaches on Hvar

The island of Hvar is known for its romantic bays with crystal clear water and pebble beaches. They are often surrounded by pine groves and other vegetation, which adds to the beaches’ attractiveness, and above all, provides enough space to hide from the sun. However, if you prefer sandy beaches, in the north of the island there are several scenic bays with a sandy bottom, as well as around Jelsa and Maslinica bay.

Dubovica Beach is one of the nicest beaches on the island of Hvar and it is only a 15-minute drive south of Rudina. This long pebble beach is hidden in a bay and is ideal for diving due to its beautiful underwater life. There is a pleasant coffee bar and a restaurant nearby. Lovers of history will be interested in the noble summer house from the 18th century, built here by the Kasandrić family.

On rocky cliffs stands a picturesque settlement Zaraće with two deep bays with pebble beaches. In the east there is a larger beach – Velo Zarace, and in the west there is a smaller beach – Malo Zarace. The charm of the place is complemented by scattered rocks and breathtaking views. The beaches are a 20-minute drive south-west of Rudina. There are also several restaurants nearby.

Near the small village of Milna there are four beautiful pebble beaches where guests who want a quiet and undisturbed day and those who want to spend a day near good food and drinks will enjoy their stay. The peaceful atmosphere of the place is enhanced by the surrounding pine forests and vineyards. There are also several restaurants in Milna. Maslinica Bay, located only 2 km from Stari Grad, has a beautiful sandy beach with shallow water, which is especially appreciated by families with small children and non-swimmers.

Sveta Nedjelja, a quiet village on the south coast of the island, hides a beautiful sandy-pebble beach. The beach is lined with rocks on both sides and thanks to its rich underwater life, this place is ideal for diving. Sveta Nedjelja is also known for its stone island with a bench and a pine tree, which is an ideal place for jumping into the water.
